Privacy Policy

This privacy notice for House of Oddities Ltd (“HOO”, “we”, “us” or “our”) describes how and why HOO might collect, store, use, and share your information when you use HOO’s services such as when you visit this website (the “Website”) and/or engage with HOO in other related ways. Our policies with regard to data collection and use of personal information are set forth in this statement (“Policy”). By using this Website, you signify your acceptance of this Policy.

Cookies

Cookies are small files that are often created when you visit a website, and which are stored in the cookie directory of your computer. A cookie often includes an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies do not damage your computer. Each website can send its own cookie to your browser if your browser’s preferences allow it, but to protect your privacy your browser only permits a website to access the cookies it has already sent to you, not the cookies sent to you by other sites. You do not have to accept cookies. You can decide if you want to accept cookies by changing the settings on your browser to accept all cookies, reject all cookies, or notify you when a cookie is set. To de-activate cookies for features such as Google Analytics you can opt-out of accepting cookies.

Information Collection and Used by HOO

HOO collects users’ name, business e-mail address, company name and job title to authenticate users and to send notifications to those users relating to the HOO service.

The information we collect will be used to: (1) provide you with information regarding our services that you sign up to; (2) carry out our obligations to you as a client for contractual purposes; (3) notify you about any changes to our services that affect you as a client; (4) provide you with information that you have consented to be contacted about; and/or (5) ensure that content from the Website is presented correctly.

HOO also logs IP addresses and aggregates non-personally identifiable user data and browser type from users and visitors to the Website. This data is used to manage the website, track usage and improve the website services. User IP addresses are recorded for security and monitoring purposes. This data is gathered using cookies and other similar technologies to customise the user’s experience and also provide us with information about how visitors use the Website. If you prefer not to enable cookies, you may change your browser settings to disable cookies; however, please note that rejecting cookies while visiting the Website may result in certain parts of the Website not operating correctly or as efficiently as if cookies were allowed.

HOO is only interested in collecting the information that we need to best serve you. If you are a blog subscriber, for example, we need your name and email address to send you the blog. If you would like to download our long-form content, we may ask you for some more information – such as your job role – so that we can tailor our suggestions for other content that may interest you. We never pass on or sell that information to anyone else, and we are committed to protecting it.

Email Choice/Opt-out

Users who opt in to receive emails during their use of HOO may choose to no longer receive e-mail updates and newsletters by selecting the “opt-out of future email” option in the email they receive from HOO.

If any information you provide to us changes, these can be updated by emailing hello@hoodares.com and we will update or remove any information that we hold about you. We may however need to retain archive copies of that information for legal purposes, such as to defend a legal claim or for audit purposes, such as to monitor marketing preferences and decisions.

Security

HOO takes reasonable precautions to ensure that user information is kept private. We restrict access to user information to those individuals who reasonably need access to perform their job functions, such as our third party email service, customer service personnel and technical staff. However, please note that no method of transmitting or storing data is completely secure and we cannot guarantee the security of user information. Unauthorized entry or use, hardware or software failure, and other factors may compromise the security of user information at any time.

If you have reason to believe that your interaction with us is no longer secure, you must immediately notify us of the problem by contacting us at hello@hoodares.com

In the unlikely event that we believe that the security of your user information in our possession or control may have been compromised, we may seek to notify you of that development and, if so, will endeavour to do so as promptly as practicable under the circumstances.

Sharing and Disclosure of Information

Except as otherwise described in this Policy, HOO will not disclose personal information to any third party unless we believe that disclosure is necessary to: (1) comply with applicable laws; (2) respond to governmental inquiries or requests; (3) comply with valid legal process; (4) protect the rights, privacy, safety or property of HOO, our customers, Website visitors or the public; (5) permit us to pursue available remedies or limit the damages that we may sustain; and (6) enforce our Terms & Conditions of Use and/or where it is necessary to provide you with information or our services. In the event that HOO is acquired by or merged with a third-party entity, we reserve the right, in any of these circumstances, to transfer or assign the information that we have collected on or through this Website as part of that merger, acquisition, sale, or other change of control.

Just because we’re a bit, well, odd, doesn’t mean we’re always rule breakers. When we were studying design - at college, and everything – our tutors always said there should be ‘lots of white space’ to help our designs breathe.

So here it is, Mrs Lindblom. Here’s your white space.
What’s the right terminology for this space-faring fishface?
Fishtronaut? Or Cod-monaut?
